Volunteer Applicant Statement

I certify that the information provided in this application to Compassion Ministries Ltd., doing business as Compassion House, is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that any misrepresentation or omission may result in denial or dismissal from volunteer service.

I authorize Compassion House to verify the information provided, including contacting references, employers, educational institutions, and conducting background checks as needed. I release all parties from liability related to the exchange of truthful information.

I understand that I am serving as an unpaid volunteer and will not receive wages, benefits, medical coverage, or Workers’ Compensation. I acknowledge that Compassion House does not provide accident or medical insurance for volunteers and affirm that I am physically able to participate in volunteer activities.

I agree to release and hold harmless Compassion Ministries Ltd., its board members, employees, and agents from liability arising from my volunteer service, except as prohibited by law. I accept responsibility for any loss or damage I may cause during my service.

I understand that volunteer service is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time. I also acknowledge that Compassion House reports suspected child abuse in accordance with state law.

VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT

Compassion Ministries Ltd., d/b/a Compassion House, is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered environment for residents, staff, and volunteers. As a volunteer, you agree to uphold the following standards:

Professionalism & Boundaries

Treat all residents, staff, and volunteers with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times, including asking permission before physical contact.
Do not engage in personal or romantic relationships with residents.
Immediately report any situation that may compromise professional boundaries.

Confidentiality & Safety

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents and program information.
Follow all safety policies, including maintaining a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free environment.
Immediately report concerns involving abuse, neglect, self-harm, substance use, or other safety risks to staff. Volunteers must not handle serious situations independently.

Conduct & Accountability

Serve under the direction of staff and follow all organizational policies.
Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a positive attitude.
Harassment, bullying, discrimination, threatening behavior, or policy violations will not be tolerated.
Use organizational property and resources only for approved purposes.
